SCI Pine Grove

SCI Pine Grove, located in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, is a maximum-security facility for Young Adult Offender males. The Young Adult Offender Program (YAOP) is primarily designed for those offenders between the ages of 15-20 adjudicated as adults due to the nature of the criminal offense committed. The YAOP meets their special needs of education, adolescent development and recreational activity, while providing a safe environment for those offenders.

Rules:

SCI Pine Grove Visitors are subject to search upon entering and leaving the institution.

Regular visits may last all day if space is available. Visits may be shortened to allow other inmates the space to be with their visitors. If so, visits will last no less than an hour and the first visitor to arrive will be the first visitor to be asked to leave so that all inmates and visitors have time together.Inmates in disciplinary status and administrative custody have different rules for visitation. Please check with the inmate to know if this applies to them.

All SCI Pine Grove visitors that are 16 or older are required to have one form of photo identification. If the visitor does not have one form of photo ID, then two forms of other identification are required. A minors name may be placed on the approved visiting list only with the written permission of the minors parent or legal guardian on form DC-313.

SCI Pine Grove Visitors under the age of 18 may only visit when accompanied by an adult who is on the inmates approved visiting list. This adult must be listed on the DC 313 minor consent form.

Purses, knapsacks, packages, etc. are to be left outside of the institution or stored in the small lockers. You may bring in quarters or tokens, there is a change machine located in the front lobby. The only other items allowed in the visiting room (when appropriate) are: diapers, one plastic baby bottle, one plastic jar of baby food, and locker key. If you are in doubt about an item, call first or bring it to the attention of the Officer when you arrive.

All drugs, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, are prohibited. Should medication be needed during your visit at the institution, please advise the Officer when you are signing in.

SCI Pine Grove Visitors shall park in the designated parking lot near the administration building.

Do not stop and have conversations with inmates whom you are not here to visit.

Children should be fed prior to their visit to the institution. Although refreshments are available through vending machines, one should not depend upon them to be filled or in working order.There is a childrenâ€s play area with videotapes and games available. It is the responsibility of the visitors and inmates to maintain their childrens behavior. If this is not done, the visit will be terminated.

Cameras, tape recorders, radios, chewing gun, tobacco products and handbags are not permitted in the visiting area. SCI Pine Grove is a tobacco free institution.

Please use good judgment and discretion in dress and behavior so as not to embarrass others in the visiting room. Keep children under control. Failure to do so may result in early termination of your visit.

Ex-offenders must have prior written approval from the Superintendent to visit any SCI Pine Grove inmate.

Do not bring any kind of gift to the institution.

Food may not be taken into the institution. Food and soft drinks may be purchased and consumed where vending machines are provided.

Any visitor appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance will not be permitted to enter the institution.

All SCI Pine Grove inmates are informed of changes that may occur in visiting regulations. It is the responsibility of each inmate to inform his visitor of these changes.

Please remember that any violation of SCI Pine Grove visiting regulations may result in the suspension of visiting privileges.

Visitors should not arrive at the facility prior to 8:00 AM. No visitors will be processed in for a visit between the hours of 11:45 AM and 1:00 PM (or until count is clear). No visitors will be processed in for a visit after 2:30 PM.
Rules:

Alcohol beverages, narcotics, drugs or weapons are not permitted anywhere on the grounds or inside the institution. Persons caught introducing contraband into SCI Pine Grove will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and will be permanently banned from visiting all state correctional institutions. Any SCI Pine Grove visitor appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance will not be permitted to enter the institution.

Any two of the following are acceptable non-photo identification: Voter’s Registration card, Medicare card, learner’s permit or temporary driver’s license, vehicle registration, birth certificate, school identification, immunization record or a Social Security card. Identification beyond the expiration date will not be acceptable. You will not be permitted to visit without proper identification.

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections has stringent rules regarding visits of minor children on inmates who have been convicted of physical or sexual offenses towards minors. Parents with any concerns or questions should consult first with the Visiting Officer before allowing minor children to visit. Additionally, all minor children must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian, county children/youth service agency staff, or an adult(s) immediate family member(s) approved by the parent/legal guardian to accompany the child. There must be an authorized 313 form on file for each child. The individual(s) accompanying a minor is responsible for the welfare and behavior of the minor and any damages the minor may cause while in the visiting room or on state property. Failure to keep children under control may result in early termination of your visit.

The visitor dress code at SCI Pine Grove prohibits the wearing of: gym shorts. boxer shorts, short shorts, spandex clothing or any item of clothing with rips, tears or revealing holes; clothing that makes reference to drugs, sex, violence or with obscene language; bare midriff, half shirts, halter tops, tank tops, pajamas or lingerie, or transparent clothing of any kind; or bare feet.

An inmate and his visitors may only embrace upon meeting and when leaving the visiting area. (Excessive kissing and/or petting are not permitted and may result in termination of the visit and disciplinary action to the inmate). The only physical contact permitted by adults during the visit is holding hands. No sitting on laps, snuggling or grooming. Small children are permitted to sit on the lap of the inmate.

The Superintendent, Deputy Superintendents, Unit Managers or Shift Commanders may only approve Special/Extended visits.
